Bored, and Clairmont is a creepy stalker, and Kat Hooper assures me I'm not missing a gem. I only got 56 pages in, so no real review.

Gloria Mundi It took me about two and a half months to drag myself through this monstrosity (I must be OCD or a glutton for punishment). I wanted to punch the heroine throughout and I am not usually prone to violence. The biggest magical feat I saw this amazing witch prodigy accomplish is crying an effing river when her lover boy goes away for a couple days. And Clairmont seriously makes sparkly Edward look like a prize. Quit while you are ahead is my advice.

Kelly I think the final nail in the coffin was reading reviews by people who finished the book, and realizing that the question of what is in the dang Ashmole book is still not explored after all those pages. So far it's just going to the library, going home from the library, going back to the library, going back home, and getting stalked.

Gloria Mundi Yeah, I'd say the beginning's probably the best bit. At least it had a bit of intrigue. It all descends into third rate melodrama from there with inexplicable eternal love declarations and everyone trying to protect the heroine because she' so speshul and the big bad baddies are all out to get her because of it.

Kat Hooper Wow, only 56 pages? You should have believed me!

Kelly, I have to hand it to you. To me, 56 pages is a lot. True story: I picked this book up at the library, read two pages in the car, then walked back into the library and returned it. I kept telling myself that I was in some funky mood and haven't removed it from my shelves yet.

Kelly It was 56 pages too many, but I feel like it was too small a sample to really write an in-depth review. I usually make myself plod through to 100 before I'll write a real DNF. And I just didn't feel like plodding; it's long, the thing I was most curious about is apparently not resolved, and I've renewed it too many times at the library anyway.

Wow! You could tell you wouldn't like it after only 2 pages? What tipped you off?

It's gonna sound strange but it was a feeling. While reading, boredom hit me over the head and i was so not feeling the book or the descriptions or anything and i just knew that the book wasnt for me. I know, it was only 2 pages, but still. By the by, that never happens. Also, the book itself was rather dense and the two pages I read felt like an absolute chore and the thought of continuing on felt like a chore . . . Well, there you have it. I know it sounds strange because like Kelly I too give books I'm not feeling 100 pages before I quit. Wow, this is a long explanation. (:

Kat Hooper Kelly, you've got mad skills!

Thanks. I'm aware. (: And I use said mad skills in my everyday life as well, not just for books. Gotta trust your gut.

Michelle I finished it, but it lead to a rather frustrated review. Perhaps it would have been better to not finish. :)

Sarah Mac I'm having the same sloggy-boredom-yawn issues as everyone in this thread, so thanks for making me not feel so alone. :P Everyone & their mother seems to love this thing, but I'm not feeling it. I finally made it to pg 63, so I'll give it the full 100 pg treatment...but honestly? There's no spark. At all. It's just so FLAT.
