This book was a bloody work of art. Absolutely marvelous. Creatively written and so delightfully carried out that I don't even know where to begin describing it. I could read it again and again, and never tire of the Count's endless musings. Such wit and self possession, Count Alexander Rostov was undeniably a man of purpose.
Most definitely my favorite book this year. And it will, no doubt, cause me to search out everything I can get my hands on about Russian history and literature.
Also, I want to note that I listened to this on audiobook, and I would like to present the narrator, Nicholas Guy Smith with an Academy Award! I highly recommend this on audio, especially if long Russian names slow down your reading.
