I tried. I tried so hard to capture what I felt about this book. I just couldn’t do it. There is no way I could ever do it justice by reviewing it. It is one of the best books I’ve read in a long time, but even that said, it doesn’t begin to crack at the surface of how good this book really is. King is hands down the master of his game. No one writes characters quite like Stephen King. Each character becomes so real, someone you know, and likeable or not, you are emotionally invested in what happens to each one of his characters. His characters are always ones you remember for years to come, like an old time friend or foe, that’s how good King is. It seems I can always recall something about each of his books, the characters in his books. They stay in your heart forever.
Of course you are bound to find some flaws here and there, but considering that this book is over 1100 pages long, can you really nitpick at them? The overall journey one goes through is well worth it. I felt like I wasn’t just a reader but one of the survivors of the plague. Fantastic book.

He came back and said that was really weird but he did like the book. Liked it so much that he took "The Stand" with him on his next trip--this time to Africa where he promptly came down with the mother and father of all colds.
New rule instituted when he returned. No Stephen King on trips. :)

Thanks for reminding me. I'm going to add The Shining to my October list. It's one of his older books I haven't read yet.
