“Circe� is the first audio book I’ve had the pleasure of enjoying. This is the tale of the Greek Goddess, Circe. This is a book club read, as I would never choose a Greek Mythology book. I’ve wanted to try an audio for a while based on many friends who enjoy listening to a story. Because this novel appeared to include many Greek names that I would butcher in my head and interpret incorrectly, I thought this would be the best time to listen to a book, rather than read.
I loved it. Perdita Weeks is the narrator of Madeline Miller’s interpretation of the story of Circe. If you are in the mood to hear a story of one of the classic Goddess stories, chose this one. Bravo to Ms Weeks!

This is really great that you’ve had your “breakthrough� audiobook experience. It took me a while to hone in on exactly what I like most for audio in terms of genre, narrator, etc. (for me it ended up being memoir and nonfiction, mostly) - but now I am completely hooked! Hopefully this will be a new thing for you to enjoy as well!

I think the voice plays a key role, but I do know that names can throw me when I read. I get too caught up in pronouncing the word in my head to allow the story to flow.

Her Song of Achilles is even better. She really does that one to a 5 star. This one was very good too. Glad you tried it.

I’m glad this review just showed up on my feed even though you listened and wrote about this book some time ago, Barbara! I always felt like I wanted to read it because of all the rave reviews but I thought it would be difficult to read and dry. Since you gave audio 5 stars I’m going to give the audio a try!!!!
