Great way to introduce children to the concept of empathy, and it’s an interesting story too. I first read it in elementary school and it’s really stuck with me.

It has stuck with me too, Lisa! This is one of my favorite children's books. It's a beautiful story, even though sad. I agree with you that this book is a wonderful way to teach children about empathy. I think it should be in every grade school curriculum to teach kindness, empathy and inclusiveness.
