John Banville is a master of the kind we rarely meet in modern fiction. An all-time favorite author of mine, his books stand proudly in my permanent collection among a very few others. I am shocked by ŷ������.
I might as well be honest and say I was asked by GR several months ago to reconsider a review I had written, giving a book only 2 stars as many had reviewed it positively and only one other person had bestowed a measly 2 stars!! I was shocked but now, not so much. Thanks for the important info, Andy Marr.

This book, for me, was close to perfect. I don't understand the 3.52 average at all 🙄
