it was amazing

A great read!! I loved the mystery and getting to meet Poiret for the first time was fantastic. He's exactly the way David Suchet portrays him in the tv series and this is how I pictured him throughout the read.
Hastings!! What can I say! He's a bit of a twat but a lovable twat and a great side kick to Poiret.
What more can I say? Christie was a master of her craft and although these books were written so long ago they still stand up today as enjoyable reads. I was drawn in from the first page and didn't want to put it down.
I read this with my daughter. (She finished before me). We're going to read all the Poiret's in order.

This is a reread for me with the Agatha Christie group. I enjoyed it as much this time as the last. Indeed it's my favorite Poiret. I read it a bit more carefully this time round and picked up on a few things I missed last time.

Mary Great idea to read the series with your daughter,Teresa! I’m glad you enjoyed this one so much.

Teresa Thanks Mary. Looking forward to the next one.

Mary Pagones I got this as part of a book exchange at my JASNA meeting, and after reading this, I went on a Christie reading spree. Her mysteries are quite addictive. This one, her first Poirot, is surprisingly good for a first installment in a mystery series (since I usually find it takes a bit for an author to perfect her formula). Christie was just born to write.

Mary Pagones And I totally agree about Suchet. He was Poirot to a T and so compassionate and kind as well as fussy and brilliant.

Totally agree about Christie Mary. I've always watched these on tv but had never read them. My daughter loves Poiret and that's why we decided to read them. I'm so glad we did. Can't wait to read the next one.

I'm still making my way through all of them! My favorites thus far have been The Five Little Pigs and The ABC Murders.

Susan in NC What a fun challenge- reading all the Poirots! I joined the Reading the Detectives group to read mysteries, and the Poirots are some of my favorites, I haven’t read them for years! I want to reread the early ones, they did them last year. Great review!

Teresa The ABC Murders is one of my favorites too but I don't recall The Five Little Pigs. One to look forward to.

It's one of her most psychologically complex mysteries, and the female characters in it are fascinating! I only recently read it for the first time, it's not as well known as some of her others (the title isn't that great, but the story is).

Mary Pagones Every time I read the ABC Murders, my heart breaks for that poor, confused, wrongly-accused man.

Teresa You have me intrigued Mary with the Five Little Pigs. I know what you mean about the poor man in the ABC murders. The guy who played him in the tv series was brilliant. Felt such relief for him at the end. Funny how we get caught up in stories:)

Kellie O'Connor I really loved it too, Teresa!!! Wonderful review!! And, I agree with you about Hastings! Hehehe

Alan (the Consulting Librarian) Teder Terrific to read a review from another lover of Poirot and especially this 1st book! Thank you Teresa!

Teresa Thank you Alan for commenting. Love Christie's books!
