it was amazing
bookshelves: horror, stephen-king

After I read other 6 novels by The King I finally found the IT, the novel which deserves 5*. To many more, I am spoiled for choice.

Carrie is a young girl living with her extremist religious mother and is severely bullied at school. She also has telekinesis powers waiting to burst and to lead to mass murders during her prom. What I liked about this novel was the way the author blends 1st person narration with extracts from memoirs, articles and other documents which unveil what happened before and during the horrible events in Chamberlain, Maine.

It seems that King has been an expert in people’s psychology even from his 1st novel. I find it that he succeeds to write the horror and evil of human’s mind. I felt a lot of empathy for Carrie, I was invested in her destiny and was conflicted about the outcome of her revenge.

Richard S Yep that Dead Zone and Strand all 5*++++

ChrissiesPurpleLibrary Nice! This is and will remain the only Stephen King and horror type book I have ever read. I was terrified but it was so much fun. Granted I was 14 years old reading it and could relate🤣. Glad you enjoyed this book! Hope you next read is just as fantastic!

Ginger Really glad to see you love this one Adina!
The whole picking a random number worked this time. I hope you have success with all of the books that's picked this year. :D

Henry Avila The film is great also.

message 6: by Richard S (new)

Richard S Sissy Spacek in one of her most incredible roles got an Oscar nomination (for a horror movie!)

Khalid Hajeri My all-time favourite Stephen King novel! Second favourite is Firestarter

Dzé󾱲Ա Mariane It's not my absolute favorite of King's novels (I'm not sure I could choose a definite favorite, but Gerald's Game and Lisey's Story are up there), but it has a special place in my heart. I'm glad you enjoyed it !

Barb H I read this many years ago and also liked it. The film was a very good adaptation. I used to buy all his books and read them as they were published. Somehow I got tired of reading them. He is a good writer for this genre. I often wonder how he can keep finding such horrifying topic- it's amazing.

I agree with Khalid on his favorites!
