it was amazing

I am going to say very little about this book because too much has already been said, most of it for the wrong reasons.
How tragic that we let ourselves get caught up in a made up controversy over whether or not an author has the cultural right to tell a story, and therefore miss the impact of the story itself.
No matter who wrote "American Dirt," it gives us a perspective on the Latin American immigration experience we have no frame of reference for without it.
That alone merits five stars.

Jo-Ann Breitstein This is exactly what I wanted to say even before I began reading it! Thanks

Cookie M. Thank you, Jo-Ann. I keep what I read in this novel uppermost in my heart as I hear and read about the current controversy at the border. We must remember to humanize everyone involved in this situation, even the opponents, as hard as that can be.
