it was amazing
bookshelves: 5-star
Read 2 times. Last read July 9, 2019 to July 14, 2019.

The Mystery of the Blue Train is very well named. Reading it in French made it doubly joyful, because there were a few exotic words that I need to look up.

The book is full of interesting tidbits that bind the characters together. Take the example of Katherine Grey. Her role here was superficial, but the author found a way to include her in her murder mystery.

I keep getting attracted to this book. It holds a grip on me. There's something magical in the victim's living, breathing words before she dies. That always was something I wanted to come back to, and I did. And I can see myself reading it again.

5 languages. I want to improve my French and my Spanish, AND my Hindi, but nevertheless, I speak 5 languages ;)

I'm illiterate in Mauritian Creole however. Though it is my native language, I have yet to learn the official spellings of Creole words.

Teresa Good to know Luffy. It's next up for me in my Poiret buddy read with my daughter.

Hope you two like it.

Teresa Well I've thoroughly enjoyed the ones I've read so far so here's hoping.

Thank you for being so classy about our tiny island. And I'm happy that you liked the place. I went to the UK in 2000. Great experience!

Wow, that's impressive, Luffy! I often think that multi-linguists are born geniuses. French is my third language, but it's gone so rusty that I feel ashamed to claim it :) But in my younger days, I absolutely fell in love with this language; even wrote poems in it.

You're too kind in your praise, Alice. I can translate many French phrases into English and vice versa, but I can't speak it well. If you're able, do share your poems. My own pet project is to translate the Ramayana into a form I can understand.
