it was amazing

Read it a long time ago, but still rate this one as a five. Couldn't put this one down and for it's time it was a breakout concept the set the stage for many other great authors.

David Putnam author of the Bruno Johnson series.

Matt I agree, David. Alas, the series fell significantly after Ludlum's passing.

I agree with the latter books falling short. As far as current favorites that genre I like Daniel Silva and three books by Olin Steinhauer, The Tourist, Nearest Exit and American Spy, really love these three, (his others not so much. Steinhauer put a human face on he spy world. I've read his next book coming out is continuing this series. I might have to reread the first three before I read the next on. Another series I truly love is The Brick Layer, and Agent X by Noah Boyd. He passed away or this series would've been bigger than Jack Reacher.

Did not know that and love that type of trivia. I tell people (those who will listen) that I once helped Martin Sheen direct a movie. I was working over time (uniformed deputy LA Co. Sheriffs) in West Hollywood onset crowd control mostly. When Sheen asked me to help out with choreographing the scene. He wanted me to let cars through into the scene for color and background and then stop the traffic so the bus Jane Fonda was going to get could get through. He said action, I let some cars through and when the bus came southbound to turn westbound on Sunset, I was too enamored with Sheen and Jane Fonda that I forgot my assignment. Cars skidded and almost broadsided the bus. Sheen yelled, "cut, cut." I remember it like it was yesterday, he was wearing gray velour work out type clothes. He walked over to me one hand on his forehead shaking his head. When he got over to me he put one hand on my shoulder, looked me in the eye and said, "Son, you've got to pay attention." Yikes.
