I was so very lucky to win this on a First Reads giveaway and I'd like to thank Berkley Publishing (Penguin Random House) and ŷ for the opportunity to read this Advanced Reader Copy.
What a spine-tingling tale! I was breathlessly anticipating each chapter. This is a ghost story/mystery that had a perfect setting...a run down old Motel on the outskirts of a small town in upstate NY. The descriptions were just creepy enough to cause some hair-raising moments...and what a cover. Absolutely love it!
The story is told in two points of view. Present time (2017) by Carly and the past (1982) by Viv. I enjoyed both stories equally.
I think this is the best book from 2020 that I've read so far this year. If you enjoy a good murder mystery tinged with a ghost story this is the book for you! Excellent writing!
