I have never read any of the books from this series, do they work as stand alone stories do you think? I hope you are enjoying the read so far :)

I think it is best to read the Grant County series first because that serie is about Sara Linton. In this third book, she returns. It is in my opinion very important to read the series in the correct order & also the books. The development of the characters is really important for the story and I think you will miss a lot when you start reading in the middle of it. And I can really recommend you both of the series! They are really good! :D
I am terrible at series reading, and I tend to dip in and out! It usually works for me, although some of my blogging friends are like you and are horrified that I don't read books in order. If you really recommend this series being read in order, I shall need to do some serious planning! Thanks for taking the time to reply :)
I read other books in between of the series I read. I think I have now over 10 series I'm reading at the moment haha. Enjoy it, it are really good books!
