I think it was meant to? The idea of deciding between Faith & Mercy is disturbing. It was a thought provoking story.

I remember now, watching the movie because Adam Driver was in it. The details are vague though. I only remember it being a slow burner with a long running time and feeling very sad at the end. It's so strange. I pretty much always like a book more than the movie, but didn't know it was based on a book. I have to get a copy and read.
