Okay after much debating, I've decided to lower my rating to a high 3 stars. I'm leaving my original thoughts right after finishing this up, but I can't leave this a 5 stars. This is why you don't write a review immediately after you finish a book kids
HUGE spoilers below!!
1) I loved the relationship that blossomed and got steady between Cardan and Jude. What I didn't like was that Taryn got forgiven so easily by Jude. Your sister, who made your life hell for some faerie dick and betrayed you multiple times for said dick, comes to your door and says sorry and you're all good? Just because she killed Locke? nah.
2) Locke is one of the main bad guys in the other books, just to get killed off in between book 2 and 3. Just like that he's gone.
3) the pacing was way too fast, which is to be expected from a book that is only 300 pages. Everything was resolved so quickly! the battle wasn't even a page long so to speak. No deaths, no repercussions at all for anyone.
4) Madoc gets away too easily for all that he's done. He tried to take over the throne and planned to murder the whole royal family, influenced his daughter and son, and he basically gets away with all of it. Jude just sends him away, WITH Oak. Who says he won't influence the boy to gain what he wants again?
5) you're telling me that Madoc and Oriana, who raised both girls can't see the difference between them? In none of the other books anyone mistaked them (except for Cardan, but he was hella drunk) for the other. And now the ones that raised them can't see the difference? it doesn't make sense at all

I can't believe this series is over!!!! Did I read this in the span of a couple of hours the moment it dropped on my kindle? You bet your ass I did.
"mock me all you like. Whatever I imagined then, now it is I who would beg and grovel for a kind word from your lips."His eyes are black with desire."By you, I am forever undone."
This was everything I hoped for and more! I didn't think that 300 pages would be enough, and to be fair I could have used around 300 more, but that didn't hinder my enjoyment. This whole series is written so damn well. I saw some people say that the politics were a bit less, but I didn't really see it like that tbh. After all this whole book is still about who is in power.

what do you mean I have to wait almost a year for this???
Also, I hope the page count changes because 300 pages is not enough

Yes I agree! it just felt like all Jude's judgement fled from her brain... none of it made sense, she was so cunning she could trick faeries, what happened???

Same here! What happened?! No scheming, no tricking and everyone were just sooo nice.
Even Madoc, just stops fighting? 🤦♀️Nope.

haha that's amazing! I don't think I ever ran out of characters on goodreads before, even when ranting about a book
That's like, he'll influence him and he can get him to revoke his banishment once Oak is the High King. Not really good thinking on Jude's part. But then again, there were so many laps of judgment.
Plus if it's the same Madoc as from book one and two there is no way he's going to take that lying down... Okay, unless he's the good guy who can accept when he lost as he appeared in book 3. 🤦♀
