[4.5] Reading Hamnet was for me an intense, transportive experience. There is an immediacy to the writing and setting - I kept thinking - so this is what life felt like in the late 1500s! Each sentence is threaded so gorgeously that sometimes I felt saturated, needing to come up for air. O'Farrell pulled me in to the world of Agnes and her love and grief and I am still partly there.

Ha, glad I had something to do with your love of O'Farrell. I haven't read a couple of hers, and might skip them also because they aren't rated as highly as others. I would love it if she wrote another memoir of sorts. Her style slays me; the best language ever, weaving such fine stories!
