it was ok
bookshelves: 1997, bage-mature, genre-horror-gothic, genre-fantasy, sub-cities, z-stephen-king

I have to admit I did not resonate with this book at all. I loved Desperation and this was not for me. I rarely like a book he publishes under the Bachman name, only 2 of his novellas are things that I like. Weird right? It is like he writes stories differently as Bachman, but still Stephen King.

Amber Did you enjoy his Bachman book the long walk? I have it on my TBR to read and don't know if its good or not.

message 2: by Charles (new)

Charles Blaze is one of the lesser known Bachman novels, perhaps you would enjoy that one. In response to Amber: I love The Long Walk, but it is very different from Stephen King's normal books.

My favorite story under the Bachman name is the Long Walk. It was fascinating. I know people who say they don't like it, but I think that story is one worth reading, plus it's a novella and it would be easy to read. I hope you like it.

Charles, I have heard of Blaze, but I haven't read it yet. I am willing to give it a read, but it's not real high on my list at this time. Thanks for the recommendation!

Albert Elnen I don't think they started selling til folks found out he was King.

message 6: by Gary (new)

Gary This wasn’t one of my favorites either.

Calista Albert Elnen wrote: "I don't think they started selling til folks found out he was King."

Albert, that makes sense. His novellas are the best of his work. Happy Friday.

Kenneth McCaul I have read several novels by King and I can honestly say this is one of his worst novels to date. I am half way through it and totally lost.

message 9: by Albert Elnen (new)

Albert Elnen I don't remember if I read any of his Bachman stuff. I usually just get the stuff with his own name. Even though I'm struggling reading the outsider.

Kyle I greatly enjoyed "Richard Bachman's" The Running Man.

message 11: by Joshua (new) - added it

Joshua Bennett Doesn’t seem to be one of his best, but still like the Bachman books. The long walk in particular is a favorite of mine.

Hey Kenneth, I have heard many a King fan isn't too hot on this book. I know a few people do like it, but I see it at the bottom of several lists. It's not a general favorite.

Albert, King wrote 4 novellas under the Bachman name before he was really famous and 2 of them are good. The Long Walk is one of my favorite stories. I love it. Running Man is pretty good too. otherwise, I don't care for Bachman. I haven't read Blaze yet, so I will find out later about that one.

Kyle, I thought it was a good story and a decent movie. It hasn't aged well, but I have watched it more than once. He was showing us reality TV before it became such a thing.

Joshua, I agree. I love the Long Walk story. it's in my top 15 or 10, depending on how I feel.
