Twisty like a pretzel, dark like unadulterated chocolate, and as compelling as a twisted car wreck, this thriller delivers! On their fifth anniversary, Nick and Amy's marriage implodes when Amy goes missing and Nick is hardly as distraught as he ought to be. Too much plot summary would detract from the pleasure of reading the book for yourself. Suffice it to say, this is one psychological mind bender accompanied by witty, incisive, laser beam writing; if you like that type of thriller, this one is a bomb. Gillian Flynn has launched herself into the big league. I loved it, though it might not be for everybody.

Riz is it not for everyone on acct. of taste, or age?

Susan Mostly taste, I'd say. I'm a bookseller, so well I know that there is a reading demographic who might find this too twisted and dark.

Peggy Love your description-appropriae! Twisty and dark!

Gerri I've only just begun this book, but I love your description of it. I hear amazing things about it, and I LOVE twisted and derranged, so I'm hoping the book is as good as its rep.

Gary the Bookworm Nice similes to describe this exception book.

Susan Gerri, I hope you are enjoying it and that it lives up to its hype.
Gary, thanks! You write fascinating reviews, so that means a lot to me!

Gary the Bookworm Thanks. Writing a review helps me to achieve some closure when I finish a book. When I was a kid I hated writing book reports. Maybe I'm compensating for that.

Lisa Truex Great review! You are so right about it being dark & twisted - and oh so good!

Antonella Lucente Just started. Cant put it down. Love it

Channelle I couldn't agree more. I just wish it had a better ending. It was sort of anti-climactic after such a page turning thriller of a book.

Patty Barnett I read this and loved it "dark and twisted" great description!!!

Steve My feelings exactly, Susan. Well put!

Jackie Allen You have a wonderful way with words!

Ron It was good to read this without knowing anything about it. The novel's huge buzz drew me in. "Laser beam writing", well said.

Erica Shay care to share book

Lianne one twisted mindf***

Kelly love your review

Jennifer I loved it too... could not put it down... read like Hitchcock!

Susannah Pk Brilliant book- couldnt put it down

Sheryl Melanson Everyone has their different personas, and this novel speaks, albeit darkly, to the dualism in all things. We know its a risk to show the people we love all of our sides, and to risk that takes real courage. Amazing Amy represents the alter ego in us all, and our internal struggle for self-acceptance.

Leah I love your review. And, I agree: it is a psychological mind bender. I just finished it and my mind was definitely blown...
It was the most clever and brilliant book I've ever read. I hated it and loved it and then hated Nick, then Amy and then both of them. Great book. And I agree too, it's not for everyone.

Susan Thanks, Leah! I couldn't agree more with the hate-love-hate scenario you so aptly described. I think there's going to be a film but the book is just so decadently delicious I can't imagine it being better than the book.

Terry I'm in the middle of it. Not as excited about it as others. However , I may have just turned the corner, as one individual wrote, it's like driving down a country road and then you hit the highway!
I may have just come to that place in the road!

A - slambooks I loved your description! Twisty as a pretzel!!! Genius! And describes this book to a T!

Damaris (C) I totally agree- the never ending twists are what make you want to keep reading it but the gruesome details definitely make you throw up a little bit inside. The ending might also dissapoint a lot of people but it's what makes Gone Girl sick and unique.
