it was amazing
bookshelves: most-loved, book-to-screen-adaptation

From the first chapter, I knew that I not only loved this book, but that it was going to be one of my favourites, one of those that feels like it has imprinted itself on you. I simply adored everything about it. It's a book that I want to press everyone to read, because I think it's a perfect book -- even though realistically I realise that my idea of a perfect book may not be your idea of a perfect book.

This is divided into three parts, all wonderful, though the third was my favourite.
I don't want to venture into the plot, because I'd hate to give anything away. It's London, 1862. A scheme is hatched. You get one side, then the other. I thought it was brilliant. I tried to make the book last as long as I possibly could because I didn't want to stop reading it. I will probably reread it soon. I also want to find the BBC movie of it, as well as the film, 'The Handmaiden' which is based on the novel (or inspired by the novel, I'm not certain which). I'll definitely be reading more books by Sarah Waters as well.

Dusan Sarah Waters is a gem. Try The Night Watch next. It's superb.

Jenna ❤ ❀ ❤ Glad you enjoyed this, Kerri; it's one of my all-time favourites! Tipping the Velvet by this author is also one of them. You mentioned watching the BBC adaptation -- it is every bit as good as the book!

Kerri That one sounds great, I look forward to reading it! I'm glad you enjoyed it, Dusan.

Kerri Thanks, Jennna! I've heard a lot of good things about the BBC adaptation -- I'm glad you enjoyed it too. I'm quite excited about watching it --- once I find it that is!

Jenna ❤ ❀ ❤ I don't know how your library system works, Kerri, but you could check to see if they'll get a copy for you to watch even if they don't have it.

Kerri Oh yes I will! Thanks for that, I always forget that it's not only books you can get from the library!

VK Dove I'm currently in part 2 and immediately thought of The Handmaiden!
