I watched Newlyweds. I’ve owned Jessica Simpson clothing. I listened to her music. So I thought I’d like her book. Wrong. I could barely finish it, but out of respect to her and her “ghost writer I felt like I had too. The entire book, Jessica talks about being relatable to her fans, yet at one point she actually says she doesn’t own a pair of flats or sneakers. Ummmm what? How is that relatable? The beginning of the book talks about how much she loves god and how she was saving herself for marriage, yet after her divorce from Nick Lachey, she talks so much about sex with John Mayer and other men. I know people change. I get that, but it felt a little hypocritical to me. What upset me the most, however, is how she kind of talked down about her current husband. She actually talked him out of going to business school because she selfishly wanted him to stay with her and then commented that she was surprised he “paid for her engagement ring himself. Because she always assumed he had no money. Girl he went to Yale and played in the NFL! I know there are a lot of people who loved this book and that’s awesome, but I’m not one of them!

Martha I’m with you Katie! I like her but she seemed very disconnected with reality. She talks a lot about money and I was pretty shocked she made that comment about her future husband and paying for the ring himself. I think convincing him not to go to business school was out of selfishness too but if he really wanted to go, he would have. But why go to school if you have “billions?

Katie Clawges Martha - true. He definitely could have gone if he really wanted to! I think I was just so fed up by that part of the book, every comment annoyed me!
