Wowza! This book was exactly what I needed!
I’ve been in a book rut for such a long time and this was the perfect NA fantasy romance novel to get me out of it. The fact that I found this book 90% predictable but still enjoyed it speaks volumes. It had a little too much inner monologue for me (which I ended up skimming over a lot tbh), but the romance, characters and overall plot were great. I also felt like the inexperienced/innocent girl trope was done very well and felt realistic in this book. I thought Hawke was a great love interest and I loved all of the scenes between Poppy and Hawke. I did feel like what Hawke announced on the last page of the book seemed a little strange - but I’m not going to complain about it because I love them together.
But I NEED to know what happens next! I’m so sad that it will likely be a long wait until book #2 😣
Note: This book actually reminded me a lot of The Red Winter trilogy by Annette Marie, which I also highly recommend to everyone (Red Winter would be the YA version of this book).

Yes, you should definitely pick up the Red Winter series! It's more YA and not as steamy but there's definitely still romance. Very similar to FBAA but with a Japanese mythology twist.

I've actually already read both of those and I did really enjoy them! I still need to read their sequels though so thanks for reminding me 😄
