January Andrews is a supposedly successful, yet broke, writer of romance novels...who no longer believes in “happily ever after.
Gus Everett, a writer she knew in college, pens more serious novels, but is also experiencing “writer’s block for reasons of his own.
They end up living next door to each other and agree, on a bet, to attempt to write a novel in the other’s preferred genre.
Gus will take January through his “research process, and January will provide a crash course on “rom com.. because “happily ever after doesn’t matter if “the getting there sucks...
And, that is exactly WHY this romance did NOT work for ME, despite its many 5 star reviews. I did not feel ANY chemistry between them.
The getting there for me...kind of sucked!
The only part of the book that I enjoyed was when the two characters were discussing writing.
I found the rest of the dialogue to be TOO introspective, which grew boring, and was definitely NOT sexy.
The descriptions, were not any that I could relate to (a one piece bathing suit which made January look like a water logged popsicle tangled in toilet paper) ?? Huh?
And, January, when talking to herself, referring to herself as a “dumb bunny.
NOPE.
Could not relate to this one.
But, different books resonate with different people, so, if you have been wanting to read this one, by all means, you should! It obviously worked well for many other readers, as indicated by the many positive reviews.
