I have said before that I am one of those readers who finds it necessary to like characters. In this novel, none of these characters are very likeable. These 9 "friends" do not like each other either, and it made it hard to connect with any characters.
I get a thrill from trying to solve murder mysteries. But, this one was written so that you do not find out until nearly the end exactly "Who" was murdered, and these "friends" all despise each other or have a grudge or a secret, so that any of the 9 could be the victim or the killer. I understand the excitement of trying to guess who the murdered victim may be, but it lowered my joy of trying to guess whodunit. It is hard to guess whodunit when you do not know yet who was murdered. So with all this said, there is nothing "wrong" with this novel, it just comes down to my personal preferences.

Yun Unlikable characters bother me too, Cherie! I haven't read this one yet, but it's on my to-read list. It's interesting that you don't know who was murdered until nearly the end... I wonder if that would lessen my enjoyment. I'll find out soon, I hope. :)

Cherie It lowered my enjoyment, because I like to guess whodunit, and that is nearly impossible until the end, since you don't know who was murdered until the end too. It is an interesting and different way to carry the plot, but it hindered me. That is only my preference though, I love solving mysteries.

Beverly That was a problem with this Cherie. Great review!

Cherie Thank you Beverly
