it was amazing
bookshelves: childrensbooks, schoolstory, twins, 20th-century

When my mother was getting her master's degree, one of her professors heard about my interest in school stories and introduced us to this amazing author. This is the first of her books about the Marlow family, and begins with Nicola and Lawrie Marlow setting off for their first term at boarding school. Kingscote is a school with more dimension than Malory Towers or St. Clare's, and the Marlows are a family you will enjoy.

Lisa Vegan Constance, My library and linked libraries do not have this, but I just ordered an inexpensive new copy. Always joke with friends about their deprived childhoods because they missed some of my favorite children's books; now I'm finding gaps of my own/books I've missed reading because of Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ. I don't know too many people who know of children's books unknown to me, but you do, and they all sound so wonderful! Can't wait to read this one and others I've seen on your shelves. Thanks!

CLM Forest is not much known in the US but addictive once you have been introduced to her, and happily she is back in print due to the efforts of Girls Gone By Press. I will be interested to hear what you think!

Lisa Vegan I did read it a while back and really loved it. Haven't gotten the others yet, but they are on my list. Thanks for alerting me to this book/series. I had never heard of it. You're a terrific resource person for old children's and ya books! Thanks so much!

CLM It won't matter for End of Term but before you read Cricket Term it would be helpful to have read some of the books in the middle.

Rachel Piper Oh dear. I was very happy to have found a copy of Autumn Term, but now I realize that I have a long, uphill battle ahead of me. Maybe I will put it back on the shelf until I win the lottery and can afford to buy the rest of the series!
