it was amazing
bookshelves: horror

This is one of the best serial novels I've ever read. Originally in 6 single issues I can highly recommend buying them as single volume. You won't miss any issue. Paul Edgecombe tells his heart warming story about Could Mountain Penitentiary and reveals everything about John Coffey, Mr Jingles and the characters involved. A very philosophical and moving novel. Absolutely recommended!

Jay Schutt I collected these books one at a time when first issued, then read them back-to-back as one book. One of King's best.

Hi Candor, that series was fantastic. Somehow I didn't want to read the books for more than 20 years. I'm so glad that I finally found my way to cross The Green Mile. King at his very best! All the best Peter

Hi Jay, you're absolutely right. I've read almost everything King ever published but this probably was his most moving, emotional, awesome and philosophical story. What an incredible serial! All the best Peter

Mark I remember enjoying them a lot, a bit more expensive in buying them but still an delightful experiment.

Jay Schutt I didn't like the idea of having to buy them each month, but it got me to the bookstore. Like I needed an excuse, right?

Hi Mark, King's serial novel is far better and much more compelling than most of Dickens' novels. Great that he did that kind of publication in the 20th century. I liked the frame story set in Georgia Pine, home for the elderly. All the best Peter

Hi Jay, those single installments got me hooked too :-) All the best Peter

Tana is this scary? The film is more "tearjerker" than horror. 'Salem's Lot was the only book by King, which I was truly spooked by. But will read this if it's more horror than fantasy/drama.
