A Court of Wings and Ruin (A Court of Thorns and Roses, #3)

Overall, I enjoyed this third installment and the direction the story went in. At a certain point I was tiring of all the drama and intense love and sex scenes.... like we get it, you can’t live without each other, your love is deep, the sex is good, blah blah blah. I tire of those parts. I enjoyed the beginning portion with Feyre putting on her charade in the Spring Court. I enjoyed the battling. The in between part in Velaris is when I got a little tired of things. Perhaps because I read this directly after the second...maybe I was getting a little burnt out on it. I’m not sure. But while it’s easy to list things I didn’t like and critique it, I’m not going to any further, because overall I was happy with this book and I really enjoy this world and story. I like Feyre’s growth from book one to now. I have always preferred Rhys over Tamlin (although I will admit my heart went out to Tam a little in this one). Elain and Nesta, well it’s certainly interesting to rope them in. I really enjoyed reading the battle scenes and picturing it in my mind.
THE NEXT PART WILL CONTAIN A HUGE SPOILER SO PLEASE STOP NOW IF YOU DON’T WANT TO KNOW:
Rhys died and the High Lords bring him back, much like they did with Feyre under the mountain, which turned her Fae. Ok so.... why didn’t they do this for her Father?! Or anyone really?! I just....I don’t know... like everyone can die but the main characters. Why not let them die? Or, why not save others? Even Amren...let her die, let someone make that sacrifice they’re all so clearly willing to make to save each other, it made sense for her to fade. It’s more believable to have one of them die given everything they went through. Life doesn’t always have a happy out ending. But back to the High Lords and bringing back people from death.... It doesn’t settle well with me that they have this ability to do so and yet Feyre and Rhys seem to be the only recipients. It’s not that I wanted him to die per se, but it is his nature to sacrifice himself to save everyone, especially his family. Bringing people back from death is a major power to have so it’s just like... why don’t they do it in other circumstances then.

It's been 3 years since I've read this so my memory isn't perfect on it, I just remember thinking that it's too easy. That it's frustrating how no one can die. I'm definitely glad Rhys did not die.... but that isn't really the point. Also, totally take a break if you have to! It's so much better to take a break and come back when you're ready, over forcing yourself and burning yourself out. I've definitely done that and it ruins the reading experience.
I did really really still like this one and #2, but I also read this right after MaF, and I think I need to take a break before reading the last couple of installments!
