For all I know this is a dream wedding (location wise) up until someone gets themself stupidly murdered.

This has a slow start, short chapters, and six POVs that jump from one to the next all too quickly and drag the story all over the place. In addition to that, the timeline flips back and forth chronicling the two days before the wedding until the d-day. Does it sound like a clusterf*ck? Maybe.

However, it’s actually pretty fun. The characters are unlikeable—some annoying, others twisted, all of them have secrets. It might not seem like it, but they’re easy to differentiate once you catch on to how their stories intertwine and each of them has a solid motive to be the killer.

*Spoilery thoughts*

(view spoiler)

The one thing that sucks the most is the rushed ending. This is a quick read, not exactly memorable, nothing extraordinaire, but impressive and entertaining nonetheless. Plus, you gotta love the creepy remote island setting! There’s the sea, the rocky cliff, the cave, even the quicksand (I think).

☶️ Amazing review! I also thought the ending was rushed, but the mystery element was pretty fun

Arini Thank you, Emma! Yes, I would’ve loved to know more about how the characters deal with the fallout of what’d happened during the weekend. It doesn’t seem like the book has an ending at all. 🤷‍♀

Bookadmirer I hate when the ending is rushed :(

Arini Don’t we all! :( It’s even more annoying when the book starts slow and the ending doesn’t live up to all the snowballing tension. Not saying that that’s precisely the case with this book, but close enough. 🤧 - @Bookadmirer

Bookadmirer @ Arini I totally understand 🙂

Gi Galdino I'm not even bother to write a review cause this one resume my thoughts so well!

I got really annoyed by the fact that John no got the blame. I mean, he's not a likeble character but didn't deserve that at all.

And yeah, too much time wasted creating the perfect crime when it is all revealed and packed in 5 minutes reading... Oh well...

Kat valentine ( Katsbookcornerreads) Fabulously reviewed Arini!😍💯💋💕

He’s just a confused guy with a lot of guilt standing in the wrong place at the wrong time. Also, now that I think about it, the ending was actually pretty similar to how the show Big Little Lies ended in the first season. In a way that we didn’t get a satisfying closure until the next season rolled. @Gi

Aoife - Bookish_Babbling YES to your spoiler tag!
This was my first foray into this genre so i figured I was missing something there but while I can sort of let (view spoiler) on your second point I am in complete agreement.

Fab review as always hun 🤩
I've been a bad GR friend and have fallen behind on heaps of activity...hopefully I can remedy that soon 🤞

Utterly unrelated but I did not know how tiny Reese Whitherspoon is 🤣😅🤑

Arini Yeah, it also didn’t change the fact that I was annoyed with her. 🙈

Thank you! 💖 And O-M-G, 😂 me too. I haven’t been interacting and catching up with friends updates for a couple of weeks now. 🙈

LOL, she’s short but curvaceous. 💃 - @Aoife

Aoife - Bookish_Babbling Well like I knew she was a petite package but seeing the line up (and yes I know Nicole & Laura are glamazons) but to see that all ladies have some form of heel on yet Reese is so pocketsized 🤩
Threw me a bit tbh, so often we only see interviews etc from shoulders up so never really thought about it 😅

Mafalda Silva Couldn’t agree more with this review!😍 I liked the story, but the end just felt so rushed, i was a bit like “is this it? Has it finished already?!😂 Couldn’t put the book down tho 🙈

Arini That’s true. I mean even when we see all of her standing by herself and not amongst crowds, I never thought she was that short. 🙈 I’d probably look just as awkward next to these women cause I’m also only an inch or two taller than she. 😂 - @Aoife

Arini Thank you! I’m glad you agreed. It’s like the book just ended a shy after the climax but never reached the final point. Unputdownable and I was so hyped, so imagine that we didn’t get a conclusive ending . . . that’s just mean! 😂 - @Mafalda

julia For all I know this is a dream wedding (location wise) up until someone gets themself stupidly murdered.---->>>>so what you're saying is that every wedding location is a dream location until murder happens to be afoot? LOL

Great review!!>

Arini Of course! 😆 But to be precise, almost every outdoor/beach wedding that is. This one is hosted on a remote island overlooking the sea. 😍 - @Julia

C. (Comment, never msg). Internet advertising makes a lot of books look popular because e-book copies are passed around for free. Millions of people have read this but that doens't make it good, as you show here!

I always hope people find my reviews of largely older novels: 70s, 80s, 90s; great stuff that does not receive promotion except for from a few of us. I love people having a different take on what gets passed around out there.

Arini I’m grateful for the internet because I find most of my reading materials online. However, I can see why it may seem a bit unfair. I rarely ever read older books that are not from the year 2000 and onward. Part of it is because, like you said, I’m not exposed to them, so I never really thought of it.

If I’m ever interested, I could probably find some in the library or second hand/antique bookstores since I imagine those would be the places where I could easily find them. Or I could go to you for recommendations.

I think it’s cool that you have a love for those books and remind people to appreciate and not miss out on those novels that would be otherwise overlooked for lack of promotion. Thank you for sharing!

- @C

Arini Idk how anything I said could be helpful since I didn’t explain in great details. 😂 But you’re welcome! Sorry you didn’t enjoy the book. :( - @Leanne

Kat Did they ever explain that red blood on the snow Olivia kept remembering? I just finished the darn book and can’t remember if I even got closure on that

Arini I’m afraid I don’t remember any red blood on the snow either..... - @Kat

Laurie Agreed completely. Also so obvious that Olivia was talking about Will from the start. awful ending that rendered the book such a waste of time

Arini Thanks! Sorry you didn’t enjoy it more. 💔 - @Laurie

Matthew Korgan Yes, agreed. Johnno is guilty of involuntary manslaughter, but now is going away for premeditated murder. Would have preferred he just have confessed to that then get framed.

Arini @Matthew - Ditto! 🙌

Carla S I figured out the killer about 60% of the way through, so I was disappointed I didn’t get to have a surprise twist endi

message 27: by Carla (new) - added it

Carla S Ending

Arini @Carla - I see, that pretty much sucked the fun right out of it for me too.

Jodie S @Kat I don’t believe it was on snow? She kept remembering “so much blood which I believe was after the abortion.

Caitlan Late to this one, but I think Olivia not telling Jules about Will says a lot about Jules character, not so much Olivia needing to grow up.

Arini @Caitlan - i dont remember the particular, but yes i suppose thats another way to look at it.
