Ew.
This is a 100% big nope from me.
From the gratuitous bad language (does every single character need to use the f-word twice in every sentence? Does the main character need to whisper "bitch" every time she walks past another woman?) to the wooden characters to the stomach turning conclusion, there's just nothing about this book that I can say that I liked.
I read this book because I had seen so many people say that it was amazing and had so many twists. Those people must not read the same thrillers or as many of them as I do because this one was just bad on many levels. Don't get me started on the author's lack of legal and police investigation authenticity, it is laughable. So. Many. Plot. Holes.
Another book that I'm glad I read on KU and didn't actually purchase. I'd recommend giving this one a big pass. I'm heading out to take an antacid so that I can get try to get this sick feeling out of the pit of my stomach.

FYI, The NetGalley audiobook app is AWFUL (the app stops the book between 4-6 times) and this time the app stopped the book at minute 20. (Usually the app doesn't stop the book until minute 60) When the book stops, the listener has to restart one's phone. Usually, I am very angry when the app stops but this time I was happy because the book was not what I signed up to review.
Sooo disappointing ! The description of the book is very compelling and all of the reviews that I had read (prior to your review) were very positive. What a letdown!

Yes to all of this! I agree that the NG app is pretty awful. I have to hard close the app and reopen it (rather than restart my phone that would be terrible) The book has so many good reviews, I just couldn't believe that what I was reading was the same book.

Um, you're welcome? LOL, it sounded so promising!

To each their own! Glad you are enjoying it.

LOL, maybe? Or maybe it just seems excessive to me because I read a lot of psychological suspense thrillers and it's not something that's common to the genre for the most part.

Yes, this book can have that effect on people!

LOL, this is definitely a book that gets people all worked up for sure!

I agree, I didn't disparage the author, the point for me is that this book definitely does not measure up to other books in this genre.

Glad you loved it. It was not the book for me for the reasons I mentioned--too many plot holes and underdeveloped writing.

Thanks for your words! This is definitely a divisive book for whatever reason, LOL. A couple of thrillers I'd recommend: Little Secrets, Home Before Dark, His & Hers, Safe, A Good Marriage

I do agree, some editing would have made it better.

It's certainly a divisive book! I know that she has done a lot of marketing on TikTok, and that reaches a different audience for sure.

I'm glad you enjoyed the book, maybe my tolerance for bad language isn't as high as some others, but there's definitely more than in most thrillers.

I have read a few since this one that I've loved, thanks for your comment!

My word this book has created some serious controversy! If you read my review, the language was really the least of my concerns, mostly the gigantic plot holes and wooden dialogue. Glad you enjoyed it, there are books out there for everyone.

Glad to be of help :) This is definitely a love it or hate it book it seems.

It has certainly garnered quite a bit of discussion, that's for sure!
