did not like it

The writing is so bad that I’m genuinely suspicious of the 5 star reviews.

The characters are poorly written, between the lawyers and police officers, not one of them is professional and/or good at their job.

The main character is supposed to be an outstanding defense attorney but just lets it slide when she gets attacked by a police officer while at a police station, and doesn’t make a scene when the rest of the policemen don’t act professionally during an interrogation? Yeah, okay- definitely believable.

Also, early in the book the assistant offers to cover a 300 dollar lunch tab, unless she’s using a company card I have a hard time believing she is getting paid enough money to pay for her boss’s lunch.

I could not even finish this book because it was so terrible.

Kylie Donaldson Personally I felt like the lake house was in a small town so the unprofessionalism and lack of consequences didn’t seem to phase me.

I’m not really sure why the $300 tab bothers you... very minor detail in the story.

ER Small towns aren't an excuse for police brutality and it definitely made me realize this was not my my cup of tea.

I enjoy even minor details in books, if something sounds off it distracts me from the story. :)

May Agree about the writing. I had to check on the reviews and wonder if I’ll trust another (almost) 4 star review ever again! I’m not going to make it to the end of chap 1.

Lynne Lewis There is no way that an attorney would not make an issue of the violence against both her and the suspect in the interrogation room. Plus didn’t she discuss the case with her husband in that room? Wouldn’t the cops be watching or listening? And the only evidence against him seemed to be that the victim was in his house, and that they had had sex. And don’t even get me started in his mother. Fruit gushers and lunchables for a grown ass man? Wtf

Michele Urban There has to be some kind of behind the scenes marketing campaign where they are buying 5 star reviews from people. That's the only explanation for a book this bad to be rated that high.

Kristin K She was having her friends post reviews on a FB book group I was part of and then when I called her out on it, she got real nasty. Denied it was her friends but I had screenshots to prove it. I had bought the book based upon some of those fake reviews, so it pissed me off. Let the work speak for itself. Not your friends.

Sydney I feel the same way about the high reviews

ER KK wrote: "She was having her friends post reviews on a FB book group I was part of and then when I called her out on it, she got real nasty. Denied it was her friends but I had screenshots to prove it. I had..."

!!! That makes so much sense now. I bought it because of all of the tiktoks and comments.

Amy The author gave herself a 5-star review. I have wondered about high reviews.

Susan Wallis I have been wondering the same thing. Was so excited to buy the book after so many on FB had raved about it(????) Started reading it last night and though "is this a joke? the writing is horrendous!"

message 11: by Jenna (new) - rated it 1 star

Jenna Mars She's posting about a feud with a "Scott" on TikTok (who also hated the book) and getting people to buy the book and growing her following. Scott is right.

Marcee Feddersen I cannot understand all the good reviews.

Susan Wallis I agree - People were raving and I was so excited to get it. Very disappointed.

Megan This book is so bad it’s finally broken my already thin trust in Å·±¦ÓéÀÖâ€ reviews. How this has over 4 stars is beyond me. Halfway through I literally flipped to the front to see who the publisher was so I can make sure I never read any of their books since they clearly do not employ the most basic of editors. Just mindblowingly bad beyond description.

Cassi I am more concerned with the 1 and 2 star reviews. This book is amazing. The writing and storyline was captivating from the first chapter. I don't trust people who think this book was bad.

em and the twist at the end was horrible

Amber Yeah, I thought it was ok throughout, but the ending? I don't read much, but there were so many plot holes that I was left very disappointed.

Becca Lange It definitely required a suspension of belief to get through. Wasn’t horrible imo but not great. Immature writing and annoying characters
