The Inheritance Games (The Inheritance Games, #1)

I don’t normally delve into the realistic fiction or mystery genre, but this new release promised secrets and puzzles galore that appealed to my problem-solving side. And plus that cover omg The Inheritance Games is what I expected it to be—full of secrets and puzzles.
Avery Kylie Grambs doesn’t live the best life. Her dad’s been absent most of her life, and her mom passed away, so she lives with her half-sister Libby and her boyfriend. As a junior in high school, all she wants is to do well, get a scholarship, and get out. But everything changes when a stranger in a suit shows up and informs Avery that she has inherited a Texan billionaire’s fortune.
Sounds great, right?
The catch is that Avery must live in the extravagant yet mysterious mansion that once belonged to her benefactor, Tobias Tattersall Hawthorne, for one year before she can claim the money. Plus, she has to deal with the Hawthornes—the no-so-happy family that 徱’t receive the better half of the will—and who still live in his enormous house. And perhaps most importantly of all, Avery has no idea why Tobias Hawthorne left her his millions.
I called that plot twist way before it was ever revealed: (view spoiler) I was crap at solving the puzzles, though...they didn't make a lot of sense.
There was something missing from this I can’t quite put my finger on, but overall The Inheritance Games was a good albeit predictable read.
Note: There is a love triangle. You have been warned!
The Inheritance Games: ⭐⭐
The Hawthorne Legacy: ⭐⭐
