The Thursday Murder Club (Thursday Murder Club, #1)

I really loved this bittersweet cosy mystery set in an English retirement village.
On the face of it this is a story about a bunch of pensioners who help a couple of tame police officers solve a mystery; and it is that but it has a greater depth to it achieved by multi-layered characters and their complex interactions.
It's funny but with an underlying sadness and sense of inevitability. All is not what it seems and all is not always rosy.
Will certainly read this again (I have the hardback which is gorgeous but I'll get the audio as well) and I'm looking forward to reading more in this series.
