I liked this story quite a bit but there were some things that I didn't care about. This second chance story has good characters. I liked their voices, they aren't young men for the time standars and that shows in their behaviour and they way the face the world. The book structure also worked better for me than the one in Unnatural, all that back and forth didn't make any favour to that book. This time around, all the past events are concentrated at the beggining to allow us to get enough background about the characters and their fall out, and then the other important bits we need to follow the story are shown us through the caracters in the present.

I've enjoyed this story and even more thanks to my fellow BR, Ele, we have had a great discussion and I love when she comes up with unexpected BRs.

I'd love to BR that one with you too!! You know I'm wary of adventuring on historicals on my own, but you're the best company :)
From what I gather from your review, you were left with the feeling that he was suddenly a good guy. I didn't read it quite that way. He was revealed to be not as bad as we were led to believe at the beginning of the book, but I never thought of him as a "good" guy, more like he was more decent than he initially seemed. Maybe that's why I had no problem buying the sudden change. After all, it's not like he ever did anything bad to Kit, or Kit had any proof that he was anything more than ruthless in his business affairs, he just flirted and was not exactly likeable, but his character was a bit on the edge for me, it felt like he could go either way, although I don't doubt that if he had gone the other way, he would've been really, really bad. :D (hide spoiler)]
Consider yourself reserved for a BR if the author ever writes (view spoiler)[George's (hide spoiler)] story. 😉
