While I give this book four stars it is more a 3.5 star book, and I have taken my time in writing my review because I was not 100% sure how I felt about it.
It is a decent enough read but there was something lacking in this book and it took me a while to figure it out, there is no tension at all. If the mystery both past and present gets solved ok if not ok as well. Not a good thing in a mystery novel. This book is also packed with stereotypes that I find a little grating at times but it was not enough to overwhelm me or turn me off the book.
This book is a study of characters and place and that is something that Harper does really well, there were times I could actually here the sea while I was reading.
All in all not a bad read but not a great one.
