4.25 not so sleepy retirement village stars
This one has a fun premise with a group of seniors who meet weekly to solve cold cases. They all live at Coopers Chase and are not the type to knit and rock away their days. Instead, they pore over crime photos, interview suspects, and offer help to the local police! This cozy mystery is very British and has some funny moments.
The Thursday Murder Club has some interesting members, including a psychologist, former spy, and a nurse. Lucky for them, a murder happens right by the retirement village, so they have a new crime to solve. Before they know it, they are in the thick of things as more bodies are found. I really like Elizabeth and Joyce. Elizabeth seems super smart and has contacts to help with everything, and Joyce keeps us up to date on things in her journal entries. Plus there is wine and delicious food involved with this club.
We also get the perspective of a young detective and she gets “help from the Thursday Murder Club while she tries to get her partner to eat more healthy foods and dress better!
There are definitely some red herrings and lots of adventure along the way and I enjoyed my time with the Thursday Murder Club. I’m definitely up for the next one in the series. This made a great escape read for me.
This was a great buddy read with Jayme, be sure to check out her review as well.
