The compound effect is the principle of reaping huge rewards from a series of small, smart choices.
Small, smart choices + Consistency + Time = Radical difference

The only path to success is through a continuum of mundane, unsexy, unexciting and sometimes difficult daily disciplines compounded over time.

The compound effect is always at work in the background whether you notice it or not. If you make smart, small choices and develop good habits then over time you reap massive results, on the other hand, if you make unconscious and ineffective choices, the compound effect goes for a tailspin and leads to inefficacy.

This book offers some interesting insights, If you were given a choice between taking $3 million in cash this very instant and a single penny that doubles in value every day for 31 days, which would you choose?

In the above scenario, if you choose the 2nd option, you might not see any significant improvement in the first few weeks because the compound effect takes so much longer to see the payoff i.e., by day 31, you have more than three times than the 1st option has offered.

So, to put this effect in action, the author has provided an actionable framework to improve your choices and develop good habits. The remainder of the book is high on motivation, like stop listening to radio, quit news or TV and instead listen to instructional and inspirational audio during your free time or commute. The final chapter ends with few success stories.

C. (Comment, never msg). We always use the expression "baby steps" or "whittling away at a goal". I've often told family and friends who get far behind on something as normal as e-mail, to please just answer main questions. If you only write when you have time to do a big update all together, we hear from each other once a year. Or my persistence in receiving answers looks like lunacy, freshing them on a list of things I have waited on that could have been answered simply in their original time.
