it was amazing
bookshelves: well-i-think-its-funny, too-sexy-for-maiden-aunts
Read 2 times. Last read January 1, 1997.

Not for the fainthearted or easily shocked - but if you don't fall into one of those categories, an absolutely first-rate comic novel. Impossible to forget John Self, surely one of the most unattractive anti-heroes ever.

Jordan I'm surprised you don't have a longer review of this.

You can start a longer one, now that your favorite actor is going to play him. ; P

Manny Good suggestion! I might do that :)

Karl-O I was reading today (in Hitch-22) that Hitchens went to a brother with Amis in order to gather material (and actually act out) for one of the scenes in this book.

Manny OMG! Not Scheherazade and the magic panties?!!!

Karl-O I really can't say since he didn't talk much about the plot of Money, but Hitchens' description of what actually happened there almost made me puke. He also somewhat harshly described the girls' manner to deal with the customers, but that's the way it goes with the Hitch I guess.

He actually talks a lot about Kingsley and Martin Amis. I really got interested in them.

Manny You should check out Experience if you haven't already done so. Sounds as though you'd like it.
