Nuevo caso del genia Hercule Poirot (o Hércules, depende de la edición), , que siguiendo una entrañable tradición, allá donde aparece acaba sucediendo un asesinato 🙄
En este caso, tras tomarse unas agradables vacaciones en Egipto, decide hacer una excursión en el barco de vapor Karnak, lugar este donde sucederá la parte importante de la trama. Y hasta aquí la sinopsis.

He leído este libro seguido de Asesinato en el Orient Express, y eso quizá me lo ha lastrado un poquito, no mucho, pero lo justo para que se haya notado mucho la fórmula usada por Christie, aunque Salvando esto, ha sido una lectura muy entretenida, en la que he conseguido empatizar con varios de los personajes, algo que no me sucedió apenas abordo del Orient express. Aquí sí iba deseando que tal o cual sospechoso no fuese el culpable. Tema sobre el cual he leído en diferentes reseñas de obras de la autora que nunca adivinas lo que va a ocurrir, y en efecto ha sido mi caso, pero me han gustado mucho los diferentes giros que ha dado la novela. Están bien ejecutados y son sorpresivos.

Mención especial a la edición leída. Es un coleccionable de kiosco que traía las novelas de Agatha Christie en formato "luxury", y si bien solo compré dos, me quedo con las ganas de tenerlos todos (lástima no ser millonario y no tener espacio para más libros en casa), puesto que es una edición en tapa dura, con una portada muy chula que trae relieves, y el interior viene con diferentes filigranas al inicio y fin de los capítulos y de las partes que componen el libro. Muy llamativa.

Para narrar un poco lo que me ha gustado, vamos con los (view spoiler)[

Aunque sea algo formuláica, la novela empieza de manera diferente. En lugar de ir a la acción y conocer a los personajes según salen, Christie escribe una primera parte en la que cada capítulo corresponde a un personaje para presentarlos.
Como digo más arriba, varios personajes son entrañables, y fastidia que sean sospechosos. Pero el final, siendo quien son los culpables me fastidia aún más, aunque Simon Doyle no me cayera tan bien, Jaqueline de Bellefort sí, me habría gustado mucho que su cambio de actitud fuese real. Y el asesinato/suicidio doble del final me ha parecido un poco fuera de lugar, más aún si Poirot lo "permite" (hide spoiler)]

Acabaré diciendo que como parte de un reto literario, al acabar Orient express y esta vi ambas adaptaciones recientes y... casi mejor no comparar, las pelis tienen tanto cambio que más que adaptación se debería especificar "ideas basadas en..."

I have read this book following Murder on the Orient Express, and that may have weighed on me a little, not much, but just enough so that the formula used by Christie has been very noticeable, although apart from this, it has been a very entertaining read, in which I have empathized with several of the characters, something that hardly happened to me on board the Orient express. Here I was wishing that this or that suspect was not the culprit. A subject about which I have read in different reviews of the author's works that you never guess what is going to happen, and indeed it has been my case, but I really liked the different turns that the novel has taken. They are well executed and surprising.

Special mention to the edition read. It's a kiosk collectible that brought Agatha Christie's novels in "luxury" format, and although I only bought two, I wanted to have them all (it's a pity I'm not a millionaire and don't have space for more books at home). The book is a hardcover edition, with a very cool cover with reliefs, and the interior comes with different watermarks at the beginning and end of the chapters and the parts that make up the book. Very striking.

Although somewhat formulaic, the novel begins differently. Instead of going into action and meeting the characters as they come out, Christie writes a first part in which each chapter corresponds to a character to introduce them.
As I say above, several characters are endearing, and it annoys me that some of them are suspicious. But the ending, being who the culprits are, annoys me even more, although I didn't like Simon Doyle so much I liked Jaqueline de Bellefort , I would have liked her change of attitude to be real. And the double murder/suicide at the end seemed a little out of place, especially if Poirot "allows" it (hide spoiler)]

I will end by saying that as part of a literary challenge, after finishing Orient express and this one I saw both recent adaptations and... it's almost better not to compare, the movies have so much changes that "ideas based on..." should be specified more than adaptations.
