really liked it

There once was a man they called Jay,
A symbol of Jazz Age decay.
And just as Scott held a
Fixation for Zelda,
Jay’s Daisy dream sure made him pay!

Jo Is this a 2017 trend you're starting Steve, the rhyming review? I could be onboard with that!

Haha, with 5 "likes" in 2 minutes, my market research team is encouraged. So maybe so, Jo. <-- Note that this rhyme was purely accidental.

Fabian {Councillor} I certainly wouldn't mind reading more of your rhyming reviews either, Steve!

Steve Thanks, Councillor!

But the key, it seems to me, is not the rhyme.
It's cutting the tax on your time!

Wanda Pedersen As someone who writes somewhat overly lengthy reviews, I must say that I appreciate this succinct one! :)

Good point, Wanda! Reading every word of every interesting review would require more hours than the day allows.

Laysee Brilliant, Steve. A poetic capsule. But I always have time for your reviews.

You indulge me more than you should, Laysee, but I sure appreciate it!

Will Ansbacher A Goodreader named Steve from Chicago
Put longer reviews on embargo
Gave Gatsby five lines
Of limerick rhymes
And we all applaud his bravado!

message 12: by Gisela (new)

Gisela Ahoot! :-) Too funny, Steve and Will.

message 13: by Esil (new) - rated it 4 stars

Esil Thanks, Steve! Now I can skip the re-read I have been planning and putting off for years :)

Steve There once was a man name o Will
Who granted his book friend a thrill.
And his comment in kind
Made said friend inclined
To work hard to keep up the rhyme mill.

Best comment ever, Will! I don't even mind that you wholly outshined the original.

Steve Gisela wrote: "Ahoot! :-) Too funny, Steve and Will."

Thanks, Gisela! And regarding Will's rejoinder, I quite agree.

Don't think you're getting out of a re-read that easily, Esil. We all need more West Egg in our diets.

Henry Avila There once was a man named Steve, He wrote like a wiz,yes indeed, indeed. Until one day, he said that ain't hay . And promptly flew away, away they say.

Steve A book friend like Henry is rare.
He rhymed whereas most wouldn’t dare.
But we all sure dug it,
Each versified nugget,
Was offered with bounteous flair!

Andrea Love it!

Steve I'm told "short" is the new "good." Thanks, Andrea!

Cecily Yay, you're reviewing again!

Steve Yes, 5 lines at a time. Thanks for the encouragement, Cecily!

PattyMacDotComma A granddaughter asked me only the other day how many lines there are to a limerick. Glad you remembered! Great summary, Steve. :)

Steve Thanks, PattyMac! I never have trouble remembering the rhyme format, but to recall the meter I have to repeat "There once was a man from Nantucket" to myself. :-)

My dear friend Seemita. Need a rhyme for this ______.

message 27: by Carol (new)

Carol Good one, Steve. I love "spare with no fillers." And you even made it rhyme!

message 28: by Steve (last edited Jan 17, 2017 07:38AM) (new) - rated it 4 stars

Steve Thank you, Carol!

My new review standard pillars
Include "spare with no fillers."

(Or something to that effect.) :-)
