it was amazing

This book focuses on a dystopian society where the child-bearing women are rounded up and forced to produce children for the barren Wives.

This is an interesting book with flashbacks to the "before" period, the period before Gilead. It is also very interesting to know that this book was written more than 35 years ago, but it still relevant today. Although serious, this book really gave me food for thought in more ways than one.

There are some key differences between this book and the Hulu mini-series although the series does follow the book pretty closely. Third time reading this, and I am pretty sure there will be a fourth.

Terrie Robinson I tried to read this one but it didn't click with me. I set it down to try again later...maybe soon. Great review, Lisa! Glad you loved it!

Nevin One of my favorite books.

JasonA Not a big fan of the writing style with this one, but liked the story. I was pleasantly surprised with the sequel. I expected a cash grab, but actually thought the Testaments better than Handmaid's Tale.

Same!

JasonA - You are so correct! The writing itself isn't my favorite, but the story is very compelling. I really loved the ideas presented. They were excellent food for thought. I haven't actually read the Testaments yet so I will have to check that out. Thanks for the recommendation!

Ian M. Pyatt I found this one better than The Testaments. Another fav of mine is Alias Grace.

Jennifer N I really liked this one when I read it in university. I used it as a book club choice with my advanced grade 12s and they hated it. I was so surprised

Dona's Books Hope you are enjoying Life of Pi, that is a favorite of mine!
