Win (Windsor Horne Lockwood III, #1)

Coben is back with an enthralling mystery/thriller with Myron’s super-wealthy blueblood friend, Windsor ‘Win Horne Lockwood III, taking the lead role. Win is asked to accompany the FBI to a Manhattan apartment where a man has been strangled/throat slashed. Among the hoarder’s possessions is the Lockwood Vermeer that had been stolen 20 years before; and even more disturbing is a suitcase with Win’s initials on it. The body proves to be radical left leader that has evaded authorities after a bombing incident that left seven people dead. As for the suitcase, it is tied to the abduction of Win’s cousin Patricia Lockwood when she was a teenager. Coben provides plenty of twists and turns in his tale.
While Coben’s Myron character was endearing, Win’s hedonistic personality is more than a little off-putting. Coben’s Win character is best served in small doses.

Thank you Richard. It would be interesting to see sales numbers for his stand-alone books versus his series featuring Myron. That may explain why he has circled back to the Myron series with Win.

Thank you Richard. It would be..."
It’s probably a really inaccurate observation but I think of him as being the forerunner of the slew of thrillers we now see ....... ie everyman/ woman hero, missing wife, child etc etc.
I’ve only ever read (and loved) his stand alone novels.
