Is there anyone on Earth who really needs my review of this book?
I mean...it's probably the most well-known mystery of all time that wasn't at some point adapted into a BBC miniseries starring a Slenderman-like monstrous human who haunts my nightmares.
Either you've already read this or you're never going to.
If you somehow exist in the in-between, here you go: This is a good and satisfying story and it's fun.
That's all there is to it.
Bottom line: How unnecessary of me to tell you the world's greatest mystery writer's most popular book is worth reading. I'm annoying even myself.

okay. the hype is warranted.
review to come / 3.5 or 4 stars

for a long time i thought i'd already read this book, and then i remembered that i had simply borne witness to a play version of it that was being performed in the acting elective i took in my freshman year of high school.
so not quite the same.

I hope you don’t guess the ending bc it’s so interesting

Yes, it pays to read "And Then There Were None" and not one of the "Ten Little..." versions, which used the old song, as a focus.
The publishers expunged the casual racism (descriptive language and implied references) with ease, by changing a word here, or there. And since I never saw any evidence (not that I'm a student of Christie, specifically) that Christie was actively racist, I doubt she'd have any problem with the publisher's changes, given the times.

Yeah, that's my point. If you read any book from 100 years ago, you will encounter social norms that are not acceptable, today. But in some, you will find little (or no) active racism. Nothing overt or intentional. And the reader only has to decide whether they are able to read with subjectivity, or not. (tip for those who can't: do NOT read any fantasy or science fiction... we do not have the time to explain to you that dragons, vampires, and death stars are not real)
I agree it's worth being aware of, especially if someone has difficulty managing context, in their readings. I just think it's also worth noting, for those who can, that it's not that Christie is a racist author (the contrary, as far as I recall from my readings), but that the times were more casually racist. The clarification is likely to avoid turning off some readers, before they even try her.

it was definitely hard to read through

that is the cutest thing i have ever heard in my life.
I have *opinions* about the end of the book. For example, how any detective with half a brain could have figured it out. ALSO, I thought I was going to go bonkers with the "And then he said.....and then she said....he said....she said...." like GAH use a synonym once in a while!
Other than that, great book. =D

you have a lot more faith in detectives than i do!

honestly a pretty thoughtful move by the teacher!

the dreaded sherlock

it's not even a real 4 lol. this is just a fun book to me with nothing more
