it was amazing

This terrifying classic has officially entered my Top 5 King list!!! I'm so happy that I finally faced my fears and read It!

This book is amazing. It took me just under a month to read, but it was absolutely worth it. I'm so in love with this.

That's it. That's my full review. I will read it again someday and maybe I will be able to leave further thoughts at that time.

Right now, my mind is blown and my heart is happy!

Original:

I have avoided this book my entire life. Not because it is over 1,000-pages. I have no problem with that. I've read The Stand three times.

The fact is, I am petrified of clowns; have been my whole life. My parents couldn't take me anywhere there could possibly be a clown sighting. No circus, no parades. Even if they popped up on television, I would have to leave the room. It's a whole thing.

This carried over into my adult life for the most part, however, I feel like I am ready to give it a go. With the help of my friend, Shannon and the power of the buddy read, I am finally tackling this beast!

Summer McFadden I’m also scared of clowns and waited forever to read IT but now it’s one of my favorite books.

☆ Anushka ☆ (on semi hiatus) That's great to hear, Meg. I'm afraid of clowns too, probably because of some creepy smiling and painted faces. And books and movies like IT amplify the fear even more. Yet, it's always a great thing to overcome our fears and take that plunge. I hope you enjoy your time while reading this!!

megs_bookrack Lucie wrote: "I'm scared of clowns because of this haha. I saw the TV mini series at a stupidly young age and have been petrified of them ever since. I have the same nightmare every time I read the book or watch..." Hahaha, at least it is worth it, right!? We think my stems from watching Poltergeist when I was 3 or 4. Ahhhh, parenting in the early-80s. :)

megs_bookrack Summer wrote: "I’m also scared of clowns and waited forever to read IT but now it’s one of my favorite books." Oh, yayeeeee! This makes me happy, Summer and gives me hope. Thank you! xx

Let her read a little ahead and warn me if anything crazy is coming! :)

Kon R. Technically, It isn't a clown. There! Feel better?

megs_bookrack Kon wrote: "Technically, It isn't a clown. There! Feel better?"
Isn't it what you fear the most though, or something like that? Which for me, would be a CLOWN! We're back full circle! ;)

Rod | rodsreads Yes! You finally did it. *clown emoji*

megs_bookrack Rod | rodsreads wrote: "Yes! You finally did it. *clown emoji*" FINALLY!!! and it was soooo good! Kicking myself for putting it off for this long. I will definitely be reading it again someday :)

Hasan Whoa!! Awesome you brave you :) I'm scared of it of course because of the "clown" but also because of the size. You say it took you a month, I think then it'd be a year for someone like me haha. But I'll definitely take it on myself someday as I love the story of the camaraderie and the perseverance of our band of protagonists.

JanB I read this many years ago, back when starting a long book felt like Christmas morning (before the tbr pile was mountainous). I loved it, glad you did too despite the clowns!

megs_bookrack JanB wrote: "I read this many years ago, back when starting a long book felt like Christmas morning (before the tbr pile was mountainous). Ryker Strode Have you tried reading "Clown In A Cornfield" it's pretty good. Nice quick read and lots of fun.

megs_bookrack Richard wrote: "Have you tried reading "Clown In A Cornfield" it's pretty good. Nice quick read and lots of fun." Yes, I did, Richard! I actually read that one as soon as it came out. I was feeling extra brave and I'm so glad that I did. I read it in a day and loved how it made me nostalgic for the 80s Horror movies of my youth! I'm glad you had fun with it as well :)

Lorna Megs, you’re tempting me. We just took a day trip to the Stanley Hotel so visions of Stephen King are on my brain.

megs_bookrack Lorna wrote: "Megs, you’re tempting me. We just took a day trip to the Stanley Hotel so visions of Stephen King are on my brain."
Oh my goodness! Did you really? That must have been amazing. It's definitely a location I would like to visit one day. This is a perfect summer read, I feel like. Definitely summer vibes with the kids having so much time on their hands :)
I hope if you do read it someday, Lorna, that you enjoy it as much as I did!

Lorna Thank you so much, Megs. Living in Colorado we are basically an hour and a half away from the Stanley Hotel. Estes Park has been such a wonderful part of our life over the years. We sat on the porch and enjoyed a glass of wine as we were so taken in by the beautiful views. I am hoping that someday you will be able to do the same.

megs_bookrack Lorna wrote: "Thank you so much, Megs. Living in Colorado we are basically an hour and a half away from the Stanley Hotel. Morvrun ☁Oneiromancer☁ Well, I gotta say I wasn't scared of clowns until I read this one... It's a disturbing book about the demons we all carry inside us our whole life, and about how only we can exorcise them. Which you did, so Yay for you!

Awww, thank you so much! I loved that about this book. That even though it had legitimate terrifying scenes, there was a deeper meaning that anyone can relate to. Thank you for your comment! :)

Jennie Damron I'm am petrified of clowns, clowns and spiders. You have convinced me to give this a try. I do love Stephen King so odds are I will like this book.

megs_bookrack Jennie wrote: "I'm am petrified of clowns, clowns and spiders. You have convinced me to give this a try. It took me so long to pick this up and there are parts that truly scared the crap out of me, but it was soooo worth it. I hope you love it!

✯~鷡✯ Love that cover! Never seen that version. 🤡

megs_bookrack ✯~鷡 wrote: "Love that cover! Never seen that version. 🤡"I love it too. It's actually my favorite edition of It that I have because it is a BIG floppy paperback and I love the solid white with just the red/black contrast of the font and simple image.
