Cym & Her Books 🍉 Such an interesting read!! I couldn’t imagine being a part of that family - either a daughter OR a son.

Cym.....so true. Very tough, sad and interesting family journey.

JoEllen Mercer Thanks for the review Sharon, I just finished this book.
Because I knew exactly where the book took place and had connections to almost all of the places mentioned and a Mother who worked in healthcare and was familiar with a patient from Pueblo and knew the people who owned the ranch sold to build the Academy and a brother who often worked at the Air Force Academy I was fascinated by the description and setting. I wish I could ask my Mom if she ever heard of this family. I also was fascinated by the different theories of nature vs nurture . I have always been interested genetics and worked in a school setting with Sped kids on the spectrum ADHD. Autism, bi-polar I have seen it all manifested. I never though about the theory of Schizophrenia being on a spectrum but it made sense to me.
I have 5 stars because I was so interested but admittedly this book would feel long and maybe too technical in parts . That said the author also did a good job of telling the story of the family and their individual reactions and how they all turned out in the end. I do feel it was very well researched and written for a nonfiction book.

JoEllen, I'm looking forward to Book Club next week. I grew up in Colorado Springs and fortunately, I was able to ask my Mom if she knew the family from the book.
