did not like it

Very disappointing. Difficult to read as the writer took Gandhi's quotes and then wrote a bit in between them giving some background. Would just as soon have read a biography online. Very dull. Gandhi's heart and soul were lost in translation. Had to make myself read it, which I very seldom make myself do.

Caroline Cottom Hi Corie! If you come up with a better book, let me know and I'll post it for our discussion group. I looked at a couple of others here in Oaxaca, and they both had done the same thing!

Cor Hi Caroline, I'll do that. Seems as though I've read a good one in the distant past.

Cor Just taking a quick look at Amazon.com, there are so many books on Gandhi that I'm sure a person could find one that would be good reading.

His autobiography would certainly be worth reading, although it did not cover his entire life. To get a biography two might be worthwhile, "Gandhi's Passion" by Stanley Wolpert, Oxford University Press, and "The Essential Writings" (Oxford's World Press). I particularly liked the Explanatory Notes given in the back of this book.

It is a shame to read a book about such an outstanding person that is poorly written when there are many that seem to do justice to such a man.
