it was amazing

This one is right there at the top with Dostoyevsky's Crime and Punishment in my reading list. I have read quite a few books (in English and Bengali) in my life but nothing beats these two. If crime and Punishment is all about the conflict that pushes a character into gray, forces him to stand for himself and at the same time doubt his own decisions, Aparajito speaks of the simplicity of human life- people are borne, they experience happiness and sorrow, they suffer and they win. They move on until the end of their time. If crime and Punishment teaches us that being wrong in our own way is better than being right in someone else's, Aprajito speaks of how life is to be embraced at every moment no matter how hard it hits us. Dostoyevsky's work shows us that truth triumphs in the end while Bibhuti Bhusan's timeless classic gives us a simple truth- Life triumphs over death as we keep on living through sorrow, through all the suffering, through death. Looking for love and truth. Poetry in the form of a novel. Simple and beautiful.
