Do you remember watching the movie The Others (starring Nicole Kidman)? And when you got to the very end, you were, like, "I have to watch this one again!!" Well, it was like that for me with this book!
After reading so many of my ŷ friends' 4-5 star reviews (thank you, everyone, for NOT spoiling it by spilling the beans!), I just had to get my hands on this book and read it NOW!
Some of my friends know that I prefer to read the Afterword/Author's Note first, but for some reason, I made the conscious decision not to do so with this book. Boy, am I ever glad! Even the author's first sentence in her Afterword states, "If you haven't finished The Last House on Needless Street yet, please don't read on - what follows is one long spoiler." Thank you, Ms. Ward, for the warning!
In short, I just couldn't put it down! I kept thinking (in a good way!) "What the heck is going on?" I would frequently reread sections while savoring the "messages"!
Onto my Favorites bookshelf it goes!
HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Perhaps in your case, reading the Afterword would be beneficial - the story may make way more sense for you! Good luck!
Terrific review, Debbie and I'm thrilled you loved this too! And that no one let the cat (ha ha) out of the bag... and the author wrote about the afterword being a spoiler!

There were some creepy parts alright, but it's also quite thought-provoking overall!

I couldn't figure out what was going on. I thought multiple personalities including a animal personality?, whether he/she was responsible for disappearances? I think I will read the afterward first before I go back and try again. It just felt so creepy and sick.

Great review! I’m so glad that you loved this book. I wasn’t that enthusiastic but I loved the movie “The Others� (I even own a copy).

Actually, I'm glad I read this book as I could go back and reread portions. I just loved the twist in that movie!

I had to really pull myself away from it to get my gingerbread cookies baked! 😂 Luckily, I had another story on the go as an audiobook, so all wasn't lost!

Great review Debbie. I was just recently thinking that I'd prefer all author's notes at the beginning of the book. And for some of those notes to give more feedback when it comes to historical background and characters. I just read a book which I loved, but it left me wondering if the main character was true or not and the note didn't mention it.

As for any readers who didn't get/like this book, I would recommend reading the Afterword first!
