Do you remember watching the movie The Others (starring Nicole Kidman)? And when you got to the very end, you were, like, "I have to watch this one again!!" Well, it was like that for me with this book!
After reading so many of my ŷ friends' 4-5 star reviews (thank you, everyone, for NOT spoiling it by spilling the beans!), I just had to get my hands on this book and read it NOW!
Some of my friends know that I prefer to read the Afterword/Author's Note first, but for some reason, I made the conscious decision not to do so with this book. Boy, am I ever glad! Even the author's first sentence in her Afterword states, "If you haven't finished The Last House on Needless Street yet, please don't read on - what follows is one long spoiler." Thank you, Ms. Ward, for the warning!
In short, I just couldn't put it down! I kept thinking (in a good way!) "What the heck is going on?" I would frequently reread sections while savoring the "messages"!
Onto my Favorites bookshelf it goes!
HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Thanks for your comment, Tamar! Perhaps in your case, reading the Afterword would be beneficial - the story may make way more sense for you! Good luck!

Thanks, Jenna! I loved your review as well! There were some creepy parts alright, but it's also quite thought-provoking overall!

Thanks for your commen..."
I couldn't figure out what was going on. I thought multiple personalities including a animal personality?, whether he/she was responsible for disappearances? I think I will read the afterward first before I go back and try again. It just felt so creepy and sick.

Thanks, Margaret! No worries! Stories can't affect us all the same!

Thank you, Yun!

Thanks, Chrissie! It was like trying to solve a puzzle!

Thanks, Susan! I totally understand why some readers weren't enthralled with this book, but I enjoy a good head-scratcher!

Thanks, Nilton! You win some, you lose some! Btw, that's a great movie, isn't it?

Thanks, Jodi! Maybe it's because I pick and choose which books I want to read, not asked to review. However, sometimes I pick some real stinkers! Luckily, this wasn't one of them!

Awesome! I pushed it up my list so fast after reading all the gushing reviews!

Thanks, Lori! I wanted to borrow the audiobook from Hoopla or Overdrive, but it wasn't available in my library system. Actually, I'm glad I read this book as I could go back and reread portions.

Thanks, Kat! As I mentioned to Lori, I wanted to borrow the audiobook from Hoopla or Overdrive, but it wasn't available in my library system. Actually, I'm glad I read this book as I could go back and reread portions. I just loved the twist in that movie!

Yes! Oh my goodness! I had to really pull myself away from it to get my gingerbread cookies baked! 😂 Luckily, I had another story on the go as an audiobook, so all wasn't lost!

I hope that you enjoy it as much as I did, Meisha!

I see that! Thanks, Mary-Lisa! Enjoy!

Most Afterword/Author's Notes give information without giving anything away - I guess that's why I read them first so that I can get a decent grasp of the story. As for any readers who didn't get/like this book, I would recommend reading the Afterword first!

Thanks, Annette! I think that's the best way to read it! Good luck!

Thanks, Karina! Too bad that you weren't too crazy about this one. Do you think that if you read the Afterword first, you would have rated it differently?

So glad this one worked out for you, Nancy! Personally, I'm still going to read the Afterword and/or the Author's Note first in upcoming reads! 🤣

Oh, I hope so, Mike! So many reviewers sang high praises for this one!

Thanks, Regina! That's not to say that I won't be checking out the Afterword or Author's Note in future reads! 😂
Thanks for the review and recommendation. It’s on my list.

Thanks, Elisabeth! It's been getting very good reviews!

Me too! Thanks for the comment, Tina!
