it was amazing

Never before has a book kept me awake long after I finished reading it until The Road. I just couldn't let it go, why? Because I can see this happening. I read this book for book club and the discussion was focused on what caused the disaster - I think the point is that it doesn't matter it is not a book about a world ending event it is about human relationships, in this case a father and son and what lenghts we would go to in order to protect the ones we love. It is about what we become as humans when there is no law no order and no society to tell us what we should do. This novel paints a frigtening picture of what that world would look like.

This book is dark, gloomy and for the most part without hope, it is not for the faint hearted.

Ian Laird The hardiness of spirit when logic suggests there might be no point. Perceptive review.
