** spoiler alert ** Amazing ending to an amazing mini series! Why can’t comics be like this today?

Illyana decides to kill Storm rather than have her soul be sacrificed to Belasco’s leaders, the Dark Ones. Belasco gets upset and basically leaves her to survive on her own without her teleporting powers. He won’t let her die as he still has uses for her, but he will let her endure extreme conditions alone.

Illyana decides instead of trying to create life like Ororo did, she creates a sword, aka her soulsword. She goes back to face Belasco, kills S’ym, and isn’t able to bring herself to kill Belasco. He escapes, she goes through dimensions and it picks up at UXM #160 briefly when they pull her through, shocked to see her age double (7->14)

Illyana is walking through the snow talking about how she doesn’t know who she really is and that she has so much internal conflict. She has a few amazing quotes on the last page.

“But what is my age? I was born 7 years ago, yet I’ve lived over twice that—and in my soul, I feel as old as time.�

“I wonder sometimes what it would be like had my life been normal and ordinary. I’ve been torn in so many pieces, I don’t know for certain which is the real me. I doubt I ever will.�

“Nothing I can do about it—much as I’d wish otherwise, I’ve try my best with what I have. I suppose in the final analysis, that’s all that can—or should be said about anyone.�

“An ending, can also be a beginning.�
