did i just four star a dark mafia romance? you bet your ass i did. oh boy, this book was just something else entirely 🥺

1) was this story and all that it stands for problematic right down to it’s very marrow? uh, yes of course 💁🏽‍♀��
2) and did i still enjoy every single minute of it? affirmative, without question ☺️
3) did i also get the feminine urge to insult a certain double agent to his face only to reverse psychology him into respectfully disrespecting me in any way he pleases? no doubt, the first chance i get 🥵; and lastly
4) would i give up my left tit just to have a chance at being the object of christian allister’s mad obsession (ofc if it also entails all the *benefits* that go with it)? hell to the FUCK YESS 👏🏽

the first book the sweetest oblivion was meh. nico and elena’s story was not very memorable, very sub par at best. but this book? uhhhhh, christian and gianna’s story was everything 🥰

idk something both of these characters having a dark past/trauma/baggage and just recognising that truth b/ween themselves and being there for one another. not that i’m making this out to be the paragon for healthy relationships (bc it absolutely wasn’t, given the world they were bought up in) but it was the small moments like when (view spoiler)[gianna was having a panic attack and christian comforting her and telling her to look up at the constellations (hide spoiler)] or when (view spoiler)[gianna’s building was experiencing a blackout/storm and she went to her *safe space* ie with christian (hide spoiler)] 🥺 these small things just made all the difference. and what makes them even more momentous is the fact that neither of them had a proper solid emotional support system in their lives so when they found their *person* in each other, it was everything ☺️ also christian speaking russian words of affirmation/endearment just sealed the deal for me 😭

it was (incredibly) hot 🔥 cold, the next minute ❄️ and spicy 🌶 then warm and toasty 🥐 well, you get the gist right? the full la niña-el niño spectrum if you will 😅

i loved gianna and christian’s relationship dynamic: from strangers (well from gianna’s end for sure), to enemies who can’t stand the sight of one another (to seeking therapy as a result), to each of them seeing a mirror reflection of themselves in each other, to witty banter and humorous insult exchanges, to these two individuals begrudgingly seeking out the other as their own source of safety and comfort, to haphazardly engaging in steamy tête-à-tête sessions 🥵, to eventually giving in to their feelings bc neither of them could stay apart, to lovers.

man the amount of times i had to pause between chapters just to ✨absorb�� everything was just too fucken damn high i tell you. too. damn. high. 😫

also, i’m ready to fight anyone who says otherwise but christian’s POV chapters are >>>>
