In this little book, Virginia Woolf's style is revealed through her reflections. We must both let go to follow it and stay focused to fully grasp the scope of what it defends, a considerable range in 1928, when Great Britain was barely out of the Elizabethan shackles.
It is dense, and the demonstration is masterful of all women's obstacles to exercising their creativity and making a living from their art. Humor and irony add to the subject's relevance, making it delightful to read.
Reviewed the masculine preconceived ideas, in particular among the authors, the social and financial shackles, and the attempts to counter any feminine initiative outside the assigned role: I now understand the fundamental place of Virginia Woolf in modern feminism.

Virginia Woolf
“What is meant by “realityâ€? It would seem to be something very erratic, very undependable—now to be found in a dusty road, now in a scrap of newspaper in the street, now a daffodil in the sun. It lights up a group in a room and stamps some casual saying. It overwhelms one walking home beneath the stars and makes the silent world more real than the world of speech—and then there it is again in an omnibus in the uproar of Piccadilly. Sometimes, too, it seems to dwell in shapes too far away for us to discern what their nature is. But whatever it touches, it fixes and makes permanent. That is what remains over when the skin of the day has been cast into the hedge; that is what is left of past time and of our loves and hates.”
Virginia Woolf, A Room of One’s Own

Cecily Agreed. It was only reading this that made me realise why she was a feminist icon and how incredibly ahead of her time she was.

Yes. Like many others. Virginia was a feminist icon, for sure.
